Woman of the Bible who moved in the power and anointing of God
Miriam: Exodus 15:20-21; Numbers chapter 12 Deborah: Judges chapters 4 and 5 Deborah, a prophetess also, judged Israel. She was referred to as a "mother to Israel". The Hebrew word for judge, "shaphet", means to judge; pronounce a sentence, either for or against; to govern; to litigate; reason; to rule. She went into battle against Israel's enemy Canaan. God spoke to Barak to go into battle. She confronted him (verses 6, 14) through a Word of Knowledge concerning the Lord's will. However, he did not listen and would not go into battle unless she went with him (verse 8). Consequently, she prophesied that God would deliver Sisera, the captain of the enemy's army into a woman's hand (chapter 4 verses 17-23).
Chapter 5 records a song that she sang in praise to the Lord.
Lessons: Women need not to be afraid to speak what God tells them to speak (Zechariah 8:16-17). Neither should they be afraid to stand in the places of authority where God places them to be. And, they never should be afraid of going to war against the Lord's enemies, as long as they are walking in the Power of His Spirit (Ephesians 6:10-18). Operations of Ministry: spiritual warfare; word of knowledge, prophecy, song, and leadership (or authority) in the kingdom. Huldah the wife of Shallum: 2 Kings 22:8-20; 2 Chronicles 34:24 King Josiah sent the high priest, the scribe, and several other men to Huldah for understanding concerning the Book of the Law.
She prophesied to them concerning what the Lord was going to do and why (words of wisdom, revelation, and judgment) the nation was in the shape that it was in.
She also spoke a word of encouragement and exhortation to the king by prophesying to him concerning his own personal life.
Lesson: Be content wherein God places you.
This woman was the wife of the grandson of a servant to the king (Philippians 4:11-13; 1 Peter 5:5-11).
Yet, God used her to speak His Word to the king of the land as well as to the high priest and the scribe. In essence, let God exalt you. Do not attempt to "lift yourself up" (Proverbs 18:16).
Operations of Ministry: words of wisdom, revelation knowledge concerning God's Word and His judgments; words of encouragement, exhortation and prophecy. Noadiah: Nehemiah 6:8-14 Noadiah, referred to as a prophetess, was used by the enemy - along with Tobiah, Sanballat, and the rest of the prophets who tried to bring fear upon Nehemiah. Lesson: Just because one is a prophet (male or female) doesn't mean that they always hear from God.
Had this woman sought the Lord - as all His servants are to do at all times, she would have stood with Nehemiah instead of "going with the flow" against him. Because she did not seek the Lord, she became a hindrance to God's ordained authority.
The lesson in her life is that one must hear from God - because unless one does hear from Him, they are in danger of becoming a thorn in the flesh of those who are called by God to accomplish His will.
Operation of Ministry: a prophetess who failed to hear from God An unnamed prophetess: Isaiah 8:1-5 This woman gave birth to a child whose life spoke of coming judgment (see Isaiah 7:3-9). Most Bible scholars feel that the passages concerning this happening also speak prophetically of Jesus. Lesson: This woman was a vessel whom God chose to use. There is no other honor higher than being a vessel through which God pours forth Himself. Operation of Ministry: birthing fruit into the kingdom through the prophetic ministry. Anna: She lived in the temple serving God through prayer and fasting. Luke 2:36-39 When she saw Jesus, she gave thanks to the Lord and spoke about Him to those who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem. Lesson: The necessity of "seeing" Jesus and revealing Him to others should be the focus of all ministry. Anything else is dead works.
Ministry: prayer, exhortation, and bringing forth revelation concerning the Lord.
She did not teach the "Doctrine of Christ" (see Titus 2:11 - 3:14 and James 4:1-12) nor was she showing forth the fruit of true righteousness and holiness. As a result, this fruit was not being manifested in the lives of her "spiritual children" either (see Ephesians 4:17 - 5:21)
Her teaching included satan's so called "deep secrets" thus causing unnecessary burdens for people to bear. (v. 24) Thoughts to consider:
True Ministers of the Gospel never need to exalt themselves. (see Acts 9:26 and 1 Peter chapter 5)
"If anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new."
2 Corinthians 5:17 |
